Things to Keep in Mind Before Purchasing Cement bag - LCETED

Cement will give strength to the structures and make it last longer. Therefore, it is very important that the cement used in construction should be new with good quality and free from any slope. If you use poor quality of cement, the structure will not get the desired strength. This can lead to various structural problems such as leaks, corrosion, and cracking, as well as increase maintenance costs.

The following things should be kept in mind before buying cement.

01. Purchase cement only from approved outlets.

02. It is mandatory for any cement manufacturer to have ISI mark. Therefore, in the bag also.

03. Check the stitching of the cement bag and make sure that the cement bag is not re-stitched.

04. Check the weekly number and year of production printed on cement bags. Avoid buying cement bags made 3 months before the date of purchase. The strength of cement decreases over time.

05. The condition of the bags should be good and stored in a moisture-free place in the cement store. Avoid the damaged bag as sometimes the cement bags become hard as rock. These types of cement bags are useless because the chemical reaction took place inside and it turned to rock.

06. Check the manufacturer's name or trademark on the bag. Be sure to check the information printed on the cement bags.

07. Check that you are buying the right quality as mentioned by the responsible engineer/architect. I.e. Grade 33/43/53 quality, PPC / OPC

08. Check weight, in the truck or random bag.
